Photoventure!

Went on a photo adventure with my friend today, taking photos is much more enjoyable with another person taking photos with you. We visited an abandonded building and some fields. These are the results. (For all of the photos, visit my flickr. It takes way too long to upload photos to blogger.)

Physiograms.

Double Jointed Green Will Always Conquer The very simple way to create these awesome photos. I'm going to attempt these this weekend, over winter break and whatnot. I think they will be amazing, and I'm excited to try them! I quite like light painting and this is very similar. It'll be cool to see if they work!

Film prints!

Star trails! This is a 20 minute exposure. I really really like these types of photos, I'm planning on doing more. I think I want to try one over an hour, I think it'll be awesome! I guess we'll see!

Film complete.

This afternoon it was beautiful out. I got inspired and decided to go shoot that roll of film I wanted to do. I picked a 24 shot film, and took about 20 during the afternoon in the sun. The sky was extremely clear so I wanted to attempt some star trail photographs. So, at night, I finished the roll of film with some star trails. Hopefully they work! I'll be developing them next week, and I'll start printing and scanning them. I'm excited to get back into the darkroom!

A little more inspiration...

I find this portrait to be amazing. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it is just impossible for me to not look at it. Maybe it's his expression. Or the castle in the background. Or the amazing tones. Whatever it is, I find this to be a stunning photo.

14/14 (And project reflection.)

And on the final day, I failed. I did not take a photograph today. I could make a ton of excuses, but I won't. I didn't complete it.

So, overall, I don't think this project turned out exactly how I wanted it to. I wanted it to push me to be creative. Some days it did, but most days I took mundane photographs. I think that having to take 365 different photos is a lot different than 14, so I'd probably get more creative as the days went on. I think I'm going to attempt it still. It'll be my New Years resolution! And I'll probably start a new blog for it. I'm excited to try the 365 project.

13/14

This is probably my favorite photo out of this fortnight project, besides the sunset photos. I took it at around one in the morning. I stayed up late to finish a project. I guess technically it's the next day, but for me, this was part of one day.

12/14

I had a lot of studying to do today. So this is a photo of the flash cards I studied about a million times.

Beautiful.

Goal for the week.

Goal for this week: Shoot some film.
I have eight rolls of film and a box and a half of paper left over from last year's photo classes. I think it's time to shoot at least one roll of the film. I'll be using a different film camera than last year, the one last year was one I was borrowing from a family friend. Now I've got my own camera. I'll have to get comfortable with it since I haven't used it yet. But I think it'll be exciting. It'll be good for me to kind of get back to my roots, so to say. Learning how to do everything with film and all manual settings really made me have a lot of respect for photography. I think I've forgotten the most important thing film taught me: make every shot count. With digital I can just shoot 100 shots of the same subject and get one that is possibly up to standards. But with film you've got 24 or 36 shots to get that perfect one, and you don't want to spend every frame on the same subject. So this caused me to work extremely hard on every shot. I need to return to that a little. Also, I really enjoy working in the dark room. It'll be good for me.

Alexa Meade.

This woman has some amazing photographs. Her photos look like they are paintings, but she's made her subject look like a painting. Truly awe-inspiring. View.

11/14 (Sunset.)

These are some of the photos I took of the sunset on Tuesday. They are all unedited, they were just so beautiful. It was the best thing I've seen in a long time.
